Property Taxation

Formulas:
-tax owing(LEVY)=portioned assessed value of property x mill rate /1000
Ex. Calculate the annual tax bill for the Munster family, knowing that their property is assessed at $68,000, and local mill rate is 22.319 mills.
=assessed value x mill rate/1000
=68000 x 22.319/1000
=$1517.69

***range of values $100 <= x <=5000

Home InsurancePremium
-dollar amount owing to an insurance company every time period (year?) to maintain insurance coverage. (house & belongings)

“PRO”RATED-pay more for more insuranceEx. $0.68 per $100 of insurance for the Keenan’s, with a home value of $109,000. How much do they pay(pay per year?).

109,000/100 x 0.68=$741.20

Circle theorems 1,2 and 3

In class on December 13th we learned about the first 3 theorems of circles and lines inside circles.
1. If an angle inscribed on a circle intercepts a semi-circle or semi-arc, then
the angle inscribed is a right angle.

2.If 2 angles inscribed on the same circle intercept the same arc, then the angles are congruent.

3.If an inscribed angle and a central angle in the same circle intercept the same arc, then the measure of the central angle must be twice the measure of the inscribed angle.

These rules apply to lines that are ina cricle of any size.

Today in math class Mr. Maksymchuk kept teaching stuff about circles on euklid. And he said some stuff about technology beacause some guys came in and talked in the back of the room. He said that one day he will make graphing caculators unused. Number four is,
4. If in a circle a radius or diameterintercepts a chord at a right angle, then the chord os bisected at the point on intersetion** the convers is true**
**the radius/diameter is called a perendicular bisector**
5. If a line is tangent to a circle, then the tangent line is perpendicular to the radius diamert at the point of tangency. ** the convers is true**
6. if tanget lines to the same circle intercecting a common external point then, the segment created from the circle to the common external points are congruent.

December 11th-Intro to Geo

Well we started off the class with NO mental math.. wow was that a relief for some of us.. Mr. Max decided we are going to start learning Geometry(specifically,mostly, circle geometry).. soooo if you were not here and don't know how to use the computer and get the notes here they are for ya! As well as we learnt how to use the program Euklid it was not hard and we will be using it soon i think if you still need to learn how.Oh ya.. and Caitlynd you are tomorrow's scribe. The First slide was of words we msged in on Novell to Mr.Max describing a circle.
Next... He drew a circle with all the lines n stuff and then gave you all the definitions angles and sides.
After that.. He explained a Major Arc and a Minor Arc
And Finally, the type of lines.. It was a long class but we all learnt something..I hope.

Well this is my second post for Friday since the fire bell intrerrupted my last post. We started off the class by having a nice phone conversation with Mr. Heinkleman then we corrected the previous assingment. Here are the corrections :

The rest of the class was then supposed to be an accelerated math class or time to work on our wiki assignments, but we were then interrupted by the very pathetic sound of a fire drill.

December 7 Homework Question

A small company manufactures chairs and footstools. Each chair requires 7 feet of lumber and every footstool requires 3 feet. A chair takes 8 hours to make, and a stool takes 2 hours to make. Profit for chairs is $30.00, and footstools yield $10.00 in profit. If 420 feet of lumber and 400 labour hours are available, how many of each type should be built to maximize profit???

So I guess I volunteered to be the scribe for yesterday. Cute. So anyway he taught us some stuff on some stuff. Linear Programming. We learned the turtle rabbit question.

A pet store farmer has turtles and rabbits. He only has room for 100 pets. He can sell the cute little turtles for $10 and the fuzzy little rabbits for $30. He decides that it must be important for him to ear $1500 to make pet farming worth while. Give him financial advice.

Well there a few steps that we apparently are supposed to follow.

1. Create inequalities that represent the situation.
2. Fine "critical values".... the "ooo, happy place"
3. Draw conclusions.

We still need to identity what our variable are going to represent.

Let x= number of turtles to be farmed
Let y= number of rabbits to be farmed

L1: x+y<= 100
you use the <= because it does not say that he needs exactly 100 animals.
L2: 10x+30y>= 1500
once again you used the >= because it does not say he needs to make only $1500.

It you type those into graphmatica we get the critical points of (0,100), (0,50), (75,25).

If we told the farmer to sell 100 rabbits, he could make a profit of $3000. If we told him to sell only 50 rabbits, he could make a profit of $1500. If we told him to sell 75 turtles and 25 rabbits, he would make a profit of $1500.

The obvious conclusion here is to tell the pet farmer to sell 100 rabbits because he will make the most profit. But just because he is so good with words, I will post Mr. Maksymchuk's conclusion.

" :. tell the farmer to dump is turtle operation, farm rabbits exclusively, and retire early."

Cute.

Those poor old turtles...tear. So thats what we learned yesterday and then we had like 10 minutes or something to work on accelerated math or in mine and Kaitlin's case, chillax until class is over.

Reminders:

Sometime Mr. Maks is planning on have another test before christmas. Who knows if that will really happen but we should all start listening in class in case he decides it.

Also the Wiki is waiting for you. I don't know who has done what but I think if you didn't start yet, you should. I guess we have to do two questions so, get on it.

A store stocks Muchies and Crispios. The selving can hold 240 bags total. Munchies outsell Crispios 3:1. Profit on Munchies is $1.50 while profit on Crispios is $2.00 per bag.

Today, in math class Mr. Max said that soon we will be starting a new unit on circles, which means we will also be learning how to use another math program called Euklid ( I think that's how you spell it) ha, he also said for us to take the time to contribute our comments about the whole idea of the Wiki on his blog; about if the Wiki really will be useful in math or not. Today's class we also got more time where we could catch up on accelerated math or on any kind of math homework we might have.

P.S
Mr. Max also said that we will be having another unit test soon and another accelerated math test next week sometime.

ok so today i was trying to figure out if i was on time but i wasn't sure and i still don't really know. But ya Mr. Max was right behind me anyway so ya i guess it doesn't really matter now.
haha so lets get down to math now.
we just talked about who was doing what type of math problem in the certain obectives for the wiki assignment. he said we'd get used to saying that word after a while but it still sounds weird to me i don't know why but it just still seems annoying to me! haha sorry..
but i'm doing assignment 12 just in case nobody knows that.
so we have to at least start the assignments and then right before Christmas we are expected to have 2 questions done.. poor Alyssa! Props to Mr. Max for figuring out how to do the graphs on the wiki now.. good job! no sarcasm at all!.. so i think that is about all io will say beacause i have to do my wiki assignment yet.. so i hope this helped anyone that neede to know what we did during class while they slept threw it all.. not as if anyone would want to sleep threw math class!! ha

Today in math we had a substitute, and were left with an assignment. The assignment was to do page D-6, 1 to 12 from the booklet we got the other day. It's due tomorrow, and I assume it will be for marks... And well I guess that's all we did, I also think the accelerated math test should be soon, since we missed it for Freshie Day.

Today we had a catch up period to catch up on Accelerated Math and other work... whatever that might be.
We were supposed to have an accelerated math test on Thursday but, since we got to watch the freshies stick their faces in cake(or was it?)...all for just a $5 certificate for none other but the school cafeteria....,it's postponed till monday....BUT since i can see in the future and have a slight feeling that our teacher may not be here on monday, im assuming that the test will be the next day mr. max decides to show up.
Also, just a reminder that our first wiki project is due at the end of november.

Today in math class, we started off with a homework check on questions 1-15 from Exercise 2. Mr. Maksymchuk went over question 15, and here are some important points on Linear Inequalities:
- remember to flip the ">" sign if you divide or multiply by a negative
- use a hollow dot (number line) or dotted line for "<" or ">" signs, and a solid dot for "<" or ">" signs
The rest of the class was a work period... so remember that the Accelerated Math test is on Monday, Nov. 27

On Wednesday, we did a re-test for those people who didn't do as well as they wanted to do on the first test. Those who didn't do the re-test, it was a work class so you could get a chance to do some accelerated math to catch up if you were behind or give you the chance to get ahead.

Linear Programing in One and Two Dimensions (nov21)

Today was a new day.... we started something new. Mr Max showed us how to graph linear inequalities. Most of it was review, but for everyone who dosen't remember here are some notes that will help you out.

Hey this is becky!

On tuesday (November 14th) we did an accelerated math test for people who were testable on any objectives. If you were not testable, you worked on your accelerated math.

Since I forgot to write this yesterday ill do yesterdays blogging.

On wednesday (November 15th) we had the re-test on Non-Linear Functions. Whoever didn't write the test they just worked on accelerated math.

Hey this is Jaimi today in math class (nov.13) Mr. Max's reminded we have test on the following days:
Tuesday Nov. 14- Accelerated math test
Wednesday Nov. 15- Re-test on non-linear functions
Friday Nov. 17- systems test
Also Mr. Max will also give us a review on thursday for the test on friday. The rest of the period was a work period.

Suggestion: Mr. Max gave a suggestion on a program us students can use to make our work look nicer instead of using a word document. The program is called "Math Type 5.2." Here is how to get there go to network software-- math stuff-- math type-- and then click on math type 5.2.

Hey this is Marty talking about what we did November 9th. To kick off the class we did a ridiculously difficult/easy mental math test made by Mark. After we got over that Mr.Max showed us his wiki, some say he might of brought it out a little to prematurely. The URL for this wiki is http://appliedmath.pbwiki.com. There is a password that I won't mention but Mr.Max will tell you if you forget it. After this we looked at some word problems from accelerated math, and Mr.Max showed us how to do them.

While I'm posting I guess we have to call dibs on the question we want to put on the wiki, so I am going to call the question about soccer teams with one game each and figuring out the amount of games played.

On Wed the 8th it was more of a work period some students had decided to write tests while others are working towards getting more testable objectives.

We decided that our retest for Non-Linear Functions would be on Wed the 15th next week, and our Systems Test would be on Friday the 17th. Our review for the Systems test will be on Thrusday the 16th.

First off, I know some or most people in our class do not even care about this blog or what happens to be said in it. But I do, and I do know there is a few people that perhaps do as well. This blog is a useful tool for us to communicate to one another about math problems that some of us just don't get. Along with the fact that if we missed a class it's an easy way of finding out what went on. So, since the person who was supposed to scribe for last Tuesday did not.., and no one did for any other day.. I'll take the responsibility in updating this blog because I care.
Last Tuesday October 31st /06 (Happy Halloween!)
-On Tuesday we corrected “How Do Playboy Bunnies Get To Work?” the answer was “By Rabbit Transit” haha of course hey? We also did accelerated math, which Mr. Max stated he would not be teaching us the next day, so for anyone who wanted an accelerated math test for tomorrow to write our names on the white board.
Wensday November 1st /06
-We had a substitute teacher today, and the people who wrote they're names on the white board the other day received accelerated math tests. While the rest off the class either worked on accelerated math or something else to keep them busy.
Thursday November 2nd/06
-Today Mr. Max was back in class, so we attempted another mental math quiz which we all received new mental math sheets starting with quiz #20. After that we worked on accelerated math once again. Mr. Max also said for anyone who wanted a test for accelerated math that did not get one yesterday could today!

-NO SCHOOL! (Parent Teacher Day)

-Today once again we had a substitute, all we were asked to do was work on accelerated math. If you are behind in math.., today was a good day to catch up!

hey everybody! Today (october 30th) was a fun filled day in the world of Mr. Maksymchuk's math. First of all we didnt even do any mental math and it kinda threw me off (im still kinda rattled by that actually) but it was because we had a nice full class of learning about systems(basicly your two equations and two variable kinda work) you can use to substitution, reduction or graphing methods for these types of questions its no big deal.
If thats not clear enough you can always check the notes on the network (basicly go to your corsework drive and find Mr. Max' math stuff version 2 and then find your class and the date of the notes that you wish to view) Its no big deal. After we took down some notes and learned the basic how to of it all we got a "How do Playboy Bunnies Get to Work" worksheet (a bit inappropriate for school if you ask me) And that was Mr. Max's super awesome math class for the date of october 30th.

Linear Systems (continued)

Today we did our 17th mental math quiz and then took notes on:
Solution types and names

consistent system- has a unique ordered pair solution, looks like intersection lines
Inconsistent system-has no solution, looks like paralell lines.
Dependent system-super imposed lines, it has infinite solutions (every ordered pair on either line is a solution)

After we finished this we worked on accelerated math for a bit.

Friday oct 20th

In today's class we continued learning about subtitutions. We learned that it's possible to cancel out a varible, even when it has a coeificent. example:
L1: 5x-3y=-5
L2: 3x+2y=4
(these equations can be solved)

Notes:

1. we need to find a common multipule between ether the y-values or the x-values. example:
example: (common y-value between 3 and 2 is 6)

2. then we need to subtitute 6 into both L1 and L2 values.
L1:10x-6y=-10
L2:9x-6y=12

3. After that we can cancel out the y-variable and solve for x.
19x=2, so x=2/19

4. then substitute 2/19 for x into one of the equations. and solve for y.
3x+2y=4
3(2/19)+2y=4
y=35/19

Yup....so it's finally my turn to be blogging. Yours truly, the king of all cereals, "CAPT KRUNCH!" and NO! my cereal does not cut the roof of your mouth. If it does, then you just have issues.

Anways, today we learned a few things and worked on some stuff. We did our 15th Mental Math Quiz and if you weren't here for that, don't cry because there are another 80 some you can still do. Since a few people were missing today, Mr. Max postponed learning about the folowing(they are all the same thing, but with different names).:

Add It On/Substraction Method
Since we postponed these options, Mr. Max decided to give us an Accelerated Math Day to catch up on those practices that have been bumming around your binder since September. Also, we decided that our next Accelerated Math Test will be next Tuesday, which is the 24th, I think.

Sadly I had to get rid of that sweet Calvin and Hobbes comic because Bill Watterson is a very stubborn man after I checked up on his comic strip licensing.

Well hello kids. Today was the day that i was regretting since the start of the year. Some how I evaded being the scribe this whole time until now. O well, today at the start of class Mr. Max did a homework check on the football question that was on the blog. When he finished that we went over again how to do substitution using linear equations. He told us these 5 steps to solve these types of problems.

Step 1: Pick a variable

Step 2: Isolate that variable(solve for it)

Step 3: Into the other equation substitute the rest of the expressionwhere the variable has not been solved

Step 4: Solve new single variable equation

Step 5: Substitute value in other variable

Step 6: Write your answer as an ordered pair

Step 7: Check

At the end of class Mr. Max gave us the chance to do another football question to get the homework marks for yesterday's class. The question was...

We learned the definition of System of Linear Equations.
The definition is: a system of equations is simply referring to more than 1 equation at a time, for the purpose of solving more than 1 problem.
We also learnd the possibilities whne u graph 2 lines.
1. the lines intersect
2. They become paralelle
3.super imposed (go right over top of each other)

We also learned and algebraic solution on how to find where the 2 lines intersect with out using technology. Mr. Max used the concept of saying that if circle equals triangle amd if circle equals square then triangle equals square.
ex: y=x
y=2x+10
Which will become:
x=2=+10
0=x+10
-10=x
So that's what we learned today.

What I did was i entered 2 equations into graphmatica:
35y+20x=940000
and
x+y=36500
After i entered these 2 equations in, the number of tickets sold for $35 was the y coordinate and the number of tickets for $20 was the x coordinate. These 2 coordinates were the ordered pairs where the 2 lines intersected.
The first equation (35y+20x=940000) was for the total revenue. Y was the variable for the number of people that bought the $35 tickets and x was the variable for the number of people that bought the $20 tickets.
The second equation (x+y=36500) was for the number of people at the game. So i knew that the ordered pairs where the 2 lines intersected would be the number of people who bought each ticket (y for the $35 and x for the $20) because it just worked out that way.

We used a trial and error method. Im sorry that this is the best we could come up with, we tried and couldnt get it, so this is what we resorted to.

The formula for the cost was =(20*C2)+(35*D2)

The formula for the total people was =C2+D2

The formula for people with $35 tickets is =36500-C2

In the people with $20 ticket column we put in our estimates until the answer in the cost column equaled $940 000.

I found this by making an equation and setting it equal to the total revenue.After that I solved for x.

First we wanted to find out what Systems of Linear Equations actually was. So we went to google and searched it. We went to the third link which was, Systems of Linear Equations: Solving by Substitution. It told us to make two equations out of the information we knew and solve for one of the variables ( x or y) using either of the equations. It looked like this:

our two equations were:
35x + 2oy= 940000 (X and Y being the number of people who bought the tickets)
x+y=36500

We sloved for Y using the second equation
x+y=36500 (although it doesnt really matter what equation you use)
y=-x+36500

Now that we know what y equals we plugged it into the first equation and solved for x:
35x+20y=940000
35x+20(-x+36500)=940000
35x+(-20x+730000)=940000
35x-20x+730000=940000
15x+730000=940000
-730000 -730000
15x=210000
15x/15=210000/15
x=14000

Now that we know x, we can solve for y:
x+y=36500
14000+y=36500
-14000 -14000
y=22500

So in the end there was 14000 tickets that were worth $35, and 22500 tickets that were worth $20.

For the first couple minutes of class we did Mental Math. After we got that done and corrected we moved onto reviewing for our test on Non-Linear Functions for tomorrow. Make sure that you make a formula sheet 8 by 11 on one side.

Some things you should study are:
1. Quadratric Function

ex) Standard Form y=ax^2 + bx+ c

and Factored Form y-k= a(x-h)^2

2. Cubic Functions

Note: Theres only a relative Max and Min not absolute

3. Exponential Functions
y= a*b^x
a: Y-intercept
b: how quick or slow the curve rises

*Don't forget to study Domain and Range

Today in math class we just had a work period. We worked on accelerated math all block. We didn't have mental math....whoo!! So we didn't do much so there isn't much to blog about. Max said we'd start mental math soon, and we still have to decide when the next accelerated test is gonna be.

We did our last mental math of that page. Not the last mental math ever tho... We get new sheets one day hopefully he'll forget and then we can have a break for a bit!

We corrected "number" E in Exercise 3. We still didn't actually finish that question because we ran out of time... Showed us 3 ways to do things: Spreadsheet, graph, or an equation.

We have a math test on Friday and then we still have to decide when our Accelerated math test is going to be held.

Alright, well today in class we did basically nothing, So I'm going to take advantage of all the colors and things I can do.
Anyways I would like to congratulate Mr. Max on his new baby boy, as I have not done so yet.
Well what we did do today was our 9th mental math quiz...Yay almost done...So marks for mental math will be entered soon...But many more to come. And thanks to the checkers question I got my first %100..Woo.!
Also since Mr. Max got distracted, we Did Not correct exercise 3, letter E. Although I assume we will do so tomorrow or another day, so if it was not completed, you now have an extra day, or 2.

Also a few reminders:

In this class we started off with a mental math of ten questions. After that if we needed help with any questions he gave us examples such as:
*Write the equation for a parabola with the given vertex passing throuigh the point, opening down.
y-k=a(x-h)^2 Vertex - (0,1/2) Points - (-5,-149/2)
-149/2 - 1 = a(-5-0)^2 y-k=-3(x-h)^2
-150/2 = 25a y-1/2=-3(x-0)^2
-75/25 = 25/25a y-1/2=-3x^2
-3 = a y=-3x^2+1/2

*Find a & q so that the given points lie on the parabola.
y=a(x-5)^2+q y=a(x-5)^2-5
-5 = q -1=a(3-5)^2-5
-1 = 4a -5
+5 +5
4 = 4a
1 = a
-5 = q 1 = a
As well for Tuesday at 2:30p.m we had a Box Project Due.
Instructions: Based on the following directions and using technology from Thursday's lesson. Create and open-trapped box with the maximum volume. The dimensions are: 24cmx18cm. You can use any materials. Remember Due for Tuesday at the beginning of class!

First of all I would like to congratulate Mr. Max on his the baby boy

Today in class we mostly worked with spreadsheets. Mr. Max made up a question using a flat piece of paper as a diagram. The goal was to try to find the length and with of a rectangular prism with the greatest volume. Although not all of the computers were working we took notes off of the smartboard. It was kind of hard to take notes because most of the stuff was just observing and discussing.
In the example we started of with the basic dimensions of a piece or regular paper 8.5” X 11” but had to convert it to cm, which then became 21.6 cm X 27.9 cm
Mr. Max then cut a “1 cm” square on each side of our rectangular prism and then continued in this pattern showing a noticeable difference in the volume increase.
We figured this problem out three different ways, the first way was by using excel; which was very useful but we figured if we want to go into the third decimal place it gets time consuming. Using excel we also found out a few different ways of putting in the equations (My way and Mr. Max’s way) both we’re right (although mine was still easier). The first way was a simple equation but may not work if you change the amount of the height of our prism. The other way was more of a complexed equation that you in which you had to look down the “B” column but it worked even when we changed the width.
The second way we did it was on our calculators. We first had to make an algebraic equation:
Volume = (length) (height) (width)
=(27.9-2X) (21.6-2X) (X)

We put this equation in our calculator in our “y=” function and graphed it. We adjusted our window settings, and then traced out our cubic function to find our greatest volume. To check this we then used our cubic function button. (This was done at the end of class we didn’t quite finish)

The third way was by creating a chart:

Today in math class, we had a work period, so there’s not much to write about; so I thought I would make a review on everything we’ve learned up to this point.

Sept. 8 Quadratic Functions

Using the formula y-k = a (x-h) ², we can calculate:

Hey! If you missed yesterday's class this is a summary of what we did:

Rules for how accelerated math should work:
1. Done in sameplace on a regular basis; scribblers,looseleaf,or a notebook, NOT on worksheet!
2. Do only as much "show your work" as necessary
3. Put dates on everything
4. Use shorthand to explain or record step strategies....don't cut corners (cheat) with technology

There was a homework check on questions 12 and 13 in your quadratic functions booklet. We went over them in class.
Question 13 is due wednesday for those of you who haven't done it yet..

Today in Math Class (Friday, Sept. 15th), we started by doing some Mental Math. This was Quiz #4 and we mostly practiced using the y – k = a ( x – h )2 formula:
Vertex: (h,k)
Axis of Symmetry: x = h
Domain: always (-∞,∞)
Range: depending on direction of opening, will either be (-∞,k)] OR [(k, ∞)
Opening: depends on a being positive or negative
Minimum/Maximum: depends on opening, = k

After that, we finished correcting Exercise 1, beginning with question 9 – “Jane and her Garden”. Since Excel wasn’t working on the laptops, Mr. Max showed the class how to do the problem using his computer. This problem proved that maximum possible Area can be determined when Perimeter is known, by using the formula A = x ( P – 2x ). Then, by using some type of graphing program (calculator, Graphmatica, etc.), the maximum can be found. Next, we corrected questions 10 and 11. We graphed these functions using the formulas provided in the problems and were then able to answer the questions. Then Mr. Max assigned questions 12 and 13 from Exercise 1, due for Monday’s class.
After this, we went over the Accelerated Math guidelines while Mr. Max handed out everyone’s first Practice. The Practice deals with objectives 1-5, covering mostly Domain and Range, and other function-related stuff. Also, as a change from last year, the Accelerated Math tests have been scheduled for each Friday, and the entire class will write at the same time.
So, to sum things up, homework was questions 12 and 13 from Exercise 1, and your first Accelerated Math Practice, all due for Monday’s class.

The first thing that we did in math class on Thursday was a mental math quiz. This was our 4th mental math quiz. Next Mr. Max went over question #9 in execise 1. We worked through it as a class to come up with the answer. We learned how to use spreadsheets and different things that you can do with them. We used the spreadsheet to help us solve the rest of question #9. Questions # 10, 11, 12 and 13 were assigned for homework and were due for fridays class.

Near the end of the class we watched an 8 minute video called "Did you know...". It was an interesting video about things that are expected to happen in the future. For example, it is expected that there will be a computer as smart as or smarter than a human even the human race.

Tuesday Night Reflections

So, I'm sitting here in my classroom thinking about this whole 'connectedness' idea of what I intend for these blogs to eventually provide. As carefully (but as sincerely) as I can, I'm going to try to repeat what I've been pushing in class, and with time, some dedication on all of our parts, and maybe a little luck, things should go well....

What I think a classroom blog SHOULD be....
A safe place on the web for us as class to share with each other, as we learn together. It's supposed to be a learning community.

A place that allows for the individuality of both the instructor and students, allows us to have a sense of humour, and above all, a place that allows us to improve the status quo from a more traditional classroom instruction model.

A place that focuses mainly on course material and the human interactions that go along with being responsible for learning that material...(after all, some people say that math is hard?!)

What I think a classroom blog SHOULDN'T be........

A place to rant or vent irresponsibly, especially since THIS IS ON THE INTERNET FOREVER!!! Maybe before you post your next class scribe effort, ask yourself some questions like "If my Mom/Dad/Grandma/person I care about /were to read this, they'd like my contribution and support future blog posts like this", or how about "What kind of person do I appear to be if this is what I'm putting out there for the world to read today".....I'm not saying that I'm in favour of editing or censorship, but this is a classroom, this is a school, I am your teacher, and you are my students. Period.

A place to gain/maintain social status at the expense of anyone, anywhere. If it isn't positive, why post it? What good will it do? At risk of sounding like my father (who is a great guy, by the way), something like the Rotarian 4-way Test could apply here. I challenge you reading this to go out and google it, and then reply to this post with the 4-way test. (If you want to cheat, hit this link)

A terribly personal place where we all go to share our innermost feelings (uggg..). I'm not likely to discuss the details of my soon-to-be-born second child's delivery, nor my plans for Christmas vacation on my school/classroom blog. It just isn't the place for such things.....The older I get, the more I wonder if the saying "There's a time and place for everything" makes sense, but I guess the point is that if it doesn't have much to do with math, or what's going in my classroom, it really doesn't belong on these blogs....

On the two first days of classes Mr. Max had given us an outline of
S3 Applied Math, following the outline he also handed out a sheet on our class policies. These sheets consist of the materials that are needed, our course evaluation, noting that all classes are compulsory, if any days are missed u must have a note from your parents, or a doctor if medical, also there are class rules that must be followed.
We had taken notes on non-linear functions. There is a vocabulary of words that we must know; we what a zero is as well as a vertex, minimum, maximum, and what an axis of semetry is. On our second day of school we continued with our notes furthering what certain types of functions look on graphs. We were then given a handout on non-linear functions. Questions 1-5 are due for Monday’s class.
